Abstract Constructions

Abstract Constructions

Construction is concrete. Abstract construction does not make any sense. However, Architecture, in the very heart of space sublimation concept, beyond program and function, gives spirituality and aesthetics to construction. In art work, space is above all abstract. All combinations are possible and experienced in an unpredictable way. Designers play freely with emptiness and fullness, to increase the wealth of  architectural vocabulary.
Many constructions only exist with their spirit. Our places of worship and culture, great buildings in our cities, are only built to house the spirit. The only practical function does not justify such scales. Their function is spiritual, impalpable, close to concepts and abstraction. Architecture made up with forces and energies, acts on users and spectators. With abstract architecture, sensations and feeling get the upper hand on functions with its sublimation. So speak the walls. They live. Doors and windows speak, floors translate our footsteps. Doors open dialogues, windows cuts them off, grounds obey; but walls argue; perhaps ceilings conclude?
